My experience at the Suburban House was AWFUL. First off, there was only one server on the floor for the entire restaurant. I can't say too much about him, considering he barely came by the table to check on us ( I'll get to that later.) After treating us like a giant inconvenience, we placed our order and waited. Food took ridiculously long to come to our table, and when it arrived, my food was stone cold. I tried to eat it, I've worked in the industry for close to 10 years, and I know its frustrating to have to be the one to take the food back to the kitchen to let the cooks know it was improperly prepared. When I realized that NOTHING, not even my eggs, were warm, I tracked down our server, who was standing at the front of the restaurant chatting with one of the other employees. It took me close to 5 minutes to track him down, and when I finally did, he took my plate away and said nothing. Close to two minutes later, a cook came out of the kitchen, and proceeded to scream at me that I didn't know what I was talking about, that I have no clue about anything, and all but called me stupid. I was informed that "YOUR FOOD WAS HOT WHEN I PUT IT IN THE WINDOW." My friend, who was with me, has a degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management. I don't necessarily believe in the old adage, "The Customer Is Always Right", but you also don't scream and demean someone in the middle of a restaurant. I NEVER asked for anything to be taken off the bill, yet when our server finally showed up with the bill, he very rudely told us that half of my food had been comped from the bill. Had I known this would have been the case, I probably would have left it go and not said anything. I just thought that possibly they could correct the problem in the future. If they continue like this, I can only guess that they'll close down soon. For a restaurant that got a ZAGAT Award for '12, '13, & '14, they must have gone downhill, quickly. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. From what I hear, they usually have good food, based on their ZAGAT performance, but if you care anything about service & decency, then this is NOT the restaurant for you. I won't be back. Good Luck.

Food is fine. I had the bourbon chicken sandwich, which certainly wasn't good, but it was food and I ate it all. Service was slow, but kind. It's got some amount of charm in spite of flaws, though I wouldn't suggest it to others.

The ONLY reason it got one star is because I couldnt post without it.
It deserves NO STARS.....waste of $13. The food was terrible & service could have been much better BUT I guess when you don't like the food, not a Jew & don't know the owner; your money doesn't matter.
O, & treats their employees like they are worthless
Black people don't come to this overprice tasteless establishment.
I'm so sorry Goldberg's, I should have bought that bagel.
With establishments like this, I can see why the community looks a mess

Nope. Was a regular here for years at the old location. While no one can beat the size of their 3-egg omelettes or the size of their matzoh ball, the quality has dropped. We ordered sausage and cheddar omelettes, and got omelettes with half-melted cheddar shreds with a side of sausage. WTF? The chicken noodle soup that used to accent the HUGE matzoh balls no longer has any flavor to it. It tastes like straight out of the can Sysco Chicken Soup. I miss the old ways. I'll likely still test it now and then to see if they've gotten better, but it's no longer S&H to me.
